JULAU: SPDP supreme council and Julau division exco member Joseph Wong Jing said urged former SPDP division chairman Jerry Clement to stop making any misleading statement.

Wong was disappointed with Jerry’s claim that more than 5,000 SPDP members declared themselves to have left the party to join the one-year-old Teras.

“It shows Mr Jerry has been out of touch of SPDP recorded membership in Julau (which) is merely 3,000 members. I don’t know where more than 2,000 phantom members (come) from, if according to Jerry,” said Wong in a press statement.

Echoing a group of SPDP Julau leaders and supporters, Wong urged members to be “a gentlemen” if they would like to quit from party by submitting a simple letter to headquarters.

“So far, we have learned from our acting president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, only four resignation letters had been received by HQ,” he added.

“I also wish to urge followers of Teras to stop declaring their resignation through the media as if the ‘media’ is the political party which approved their membership!”

“It has been a laughing stock… whereby Teras followers resort to all sorts of tactics, such as calling (itself) a minority group of ten or 20 supporters, taking a few photos and claiming that thousands of SPDP members resigned.”

Wong also called on more than 100 leaders or delegates who attended the SPDP Unity Night held last Friday, not to mislead the grassroots by tarnishing its image.

Following the recent supreme council meeting called at Bintulu since (ex-SPDP president Tan Sri William) Mawan left the party, Wong echoed his confidence that SPDP’s strength is very much intact.

Wong expressed his confidence too over the acting president’s meeting up with the chief minister for his advice.

“As what was stressed by the supreme council of SPDP, all the eight state seat and four parliamentary seats will firmly remain with SPDP, and we strongly declared our stance over all the government appointed posts such as councillorship, political secretary under the party.

“Please learn through the public statements of leaders from our component parties, such as PRS and SUPP, we all have a unanimously firm stance, urging the state or national BN to reject Teras as well as a majority of our component parties in Peninsular had echoed similar calls.”

Meanwhile, a longhouse headman, who is also Julau Division exco member, Kayan Busang and another member John Ukin expressed their unhappiness over the alleged misleading statement by Jerry.
