KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Tan Sri Peter Chin has given party members supporting former Sibu branch chief Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh two weeks to affirm their loyalty to the party.

Chin said the party will be writing to members who had  associated with Wong since he left the party asking them if they wished to remain in the party or join Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras).

“They cannot be seen to be having one leg in SUPP and the other in Teras,” he told reporters after chairing the party’s central working committee (CWC) meeting at its headquarters here yesterday.

The meeting started at 10am and ended around 2.30pm.

“The party secretariat will be writing the letters very soon and those members will be given 14 days from the date of the letter to make known their stand to the party,” he disclosed.

He said that the CWC during its meeting also agreed to give its fullest support to the new group led by interim chairman Chieng Buong Toon manning the party’s Sibu branch replacing the team led by Wong, who had left the party to join Teras.

“We want to assure them of our full support and indeed if necessary we will also give them some financial support for the maintenance costs and all that.

“Also we want to tell them that the party central is 100 per cent supporting party members who are still behind us to continue with our party struggle,” he added.
