KUCHING: A woman’s act of kindness towards two men was repaid with treachery when they snatched her handbag in front of her house in Matang on Thursday.
The incident happened around 11.15pm when the 53-year-old woman was approached in front of her house by two unknown men, who asked her if she could spare them a bottle of water as the radiator of their car was heating up.
Without hesitating, she proceeded to fill an empty bottle with water and handed it over to the strangers, who then attended to their Perodua Kancil parked nearby.
Having done the good deed, the woman was heading back inside her house when she was suddenly shoved from behind and fell on the ground.
She then looked up to see one of the men, who only minutes earlier had asked her for the water, grabbing her handbag and fleeing with his accomplice in their Kancil.
Among the items inside her handbag included RM200 as well as personal and bank documents.
The woman, who was slightly hurt from the fall, later lodged a police report of the incident.
