KUCHING: Kuching Muaythai Association (PMK) president Jumaat Ibrahim was glad that a muaythai camp was successfully organised in Sematan sub-district a few days ago.

Known as “Muaythai Camp 2014”, the camp was jointly organised by PMK, the Ministry of Social Development and the Sarawak State Sports Council from June 9-11 at Pueh Camp.

A total of 30 youngsters aged between 16 and 20 attended the camp.

“Most of the participants are from Kuching, Samarahan and Bintulu areas. This camp was organised with the sole objective of strengthening the identity and fighting spirit for muaythai athletes here in Sarawak,” said Jumaat when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday.

Apart from the Muaythai Camp 2014, another separate event known as “Talent Camp” was also held during the Muaythai Camp 2014 to identify new muaythai talents here in the state.

“Finding new talents is a never-ending process hence we should find talents where ever possible. We only want the best fighters possible to represent the state,” said Jumaat.

The Talent Camp was conducted on a programme basis.
