Kindy children show footwork at mini football matches in shopping complex

KUCHING: With World Cup and football fever in full swing, Riverside Shopping Complex saw it opportune to organise a ‘Riverside Little Samba Football Cup’ which saw Germany beat Holland, 1-0, in a nail-biting game.

According to a press statement, the competition featured 10 teams of kindergarten children competing in mini football matches where they represented 10 countries which qualified for the World Cup: Argentina, Holland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Chile, Brazil, France, Costa Rica and Colombia.

Among the kindergartens which took part in the competition were Q-Dees Cambridge Stapok, Tadika Sinaran, Krista Stapok, Rainbow Montessori and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak D’Wira.

The enthusiasm was felt throughout the shopping complex with encouraging chants from supportive parents, each rooting for their child’s team.

The parents were clearly more excited and anxious than their children particularly during the final match between Germany and Holland which was the highlight of the ‘Riverside Little Samba’.

Parents and teachers did not miss the opportunity to join in the excitement when they were give a chance to win attractive prizes by joining mini games, such as penalty kick for mothers and freestyle football juggling for fathers.

‘Riverside Little Samba’ was one of the activities held under the RM15,000 Shop & Win Campaign where customers of Sarawak Plaza, Riverside Shopping Complex, Grand Margherita Hotel and Riverside Majestic Hotel had the chance to enter the contest.
