KUALA LUMPUR: MCA has pledged to ensure it can help Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak implement national transformation following its inclusion in the cabinet.

Its president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said MCA leaders would seriously work harder to ensure that the objective was achieved and executed well.

“MCA will work our level best. We have to appreciate and also work doubly hard to ensure that we can fulfill the responsibility.

“The prime minister wishes to see MCA representing the Chinese community to make sure the governemnt can continue to ensure unity, harmony and continuous development in our country,” he told a media conference at MCA headquarters here yesterday.

Liow also said the appointment of party members in the cabinet could further enhance MCA’s strength.

“MCA will continue to work hard in the future as we are undergoing transformation within our party and we are confident that we will be able to strengthen our party in due time.

“The new leadership in our party are eager to transform our party as fast as we can,” he said.

With the MCA’s return to the cabinet, he was optimistic that the Chinese community would begin to see the Barisan Nasional (BN) as a party that gave  priority to the values of a multi-racial unity.

“I am confident that MCA can play a vital role, in terms of representing the Chinese community in executing plans well for our country because we view our country as a multi-racial one and we need representation from every race in improving our country’s policies,” he said.
