KUALA LUMPUR: Government departments and agencies have been urged to use the services of auxiliary police instead of using the services of private security services.

Deputy IGP Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin said a substantial number of government departments and agencies had engage the services of private security companies that do not screen their employees through the proper process.

Engaging such services (private security firms) is indeed a weakness in the safety and security system of government departments and agencies when it comes to safeguarding their buildings.

Mohd Bakri said before auxiliary policemen are employed, they are screened and their integrity tested before they are employed.

“The response for auxiliary police service is still low at government departments, agencies and government financial institutions,” he said when met after attending a meeting with Security managers of financial institutions at Menara Bank Islam, here yesterday.  — Bernama
