KUCHING: Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) shared the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan by breaking fast with some 30 children from the Laila Taib Orphanage on July 3.

“Reaching out to the less fortunate in our community is an activity close to our hearts. Hosting is our business, but we take note that playing host can make someone’s day.

“We have made the ‘Berbuka Puasa’ activity an annual programme for these children since 2011 in the hope of making a difference,” BCCK chief executive officer Eric van Piggelen said, according to a press release.

A ‘Tarawih’ prayer was led by an imam for the buka puasa programme.

Later the younger children received a helping hand from the BCCK Ramadan team to explore the innumerable culinary offerings available in the Great Hall.

BCCK has worked with charitable organisations such as Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS), Salvation Army and Cheshire Home, and the centre continues to identify programmes to give back to the community.
