Sarawak Harmony Education Association sworn to the task

KUCHING: Sarawak Harmony Education Association held its first installation of committee members at a grand installation dinner on Friday.

Permanent honorary chairman Wong Tiong Hock was guest of honour for the night.

Among those in the committee present were chairman Kingsley Chin, deputy chairman Thomas Ung, vice chairman James Ngu, secretary general Voon Mei Fung, vice secretary Chin Sui Kiong, treasurer Leong Heng Choi  and vice treasurer Chin Sui  Sing.

Wong congratulated the association on its first  installation and hoped they  would bring betterment to  society.

He also praised the association members for their perseverance and hard work in successfully establishing the association  after facing many challenges.

“I hope the association can  work together with schools and hold beneficial co-curriculum activities such as students interaction programmes,  healthy entertainment and  even educational movies.

“I believe in order to create a vibrant, harmony and sustainable community, it should start from very young age through education,” he said.

More than 500 attended the dinner where they were also entertained to a dancing performance and show of musical instruments.

The association was established in March this year, with  objectives to promote positive thinking, health and to enhance harmony between people to  work together for mutual  benefit and social development.
