Zakiah symbolically launches the recycling centre.
KUCHING: Riveria and Tiya Vista residents as well as those living nearby can now make use of the 3R recycling bins centre at Taman Tiya Vista commercial centre off Samarahan Expressway.
Samarahan District Council deputy chairperson Councillor Zakiah Basah launched the centre yesterday.
The centre was set up as part of the Samarahan District Council’s zero waste programme in collaboration with Abadi Resources to encourage residents to recycle their waste and address the problem of excessive waste at a limited dump site.
Abadi Resources will collect the recyclable items every fortnight on a Saturday.
The recycling bins are for recyclable items such as newspapers, cardboard, plastic bottles, plastic containers, aluminium cans, wire and other recyclable items.
Kitchen and other waste must not be thrown into the bins.
The council hopes the initiative will help to create a ‘Beautiful, Clean and Green’ community.
