Teenage boy arrested to assist in air gun probe

SIBU: Police on Thursday arrested a teenage boy whom they suspected had shot a neighbour’s pet cat with an air gun.

He was arrested at his longhouse in Sungai Sengan, Durin at 4pm. But, no gun was recovered.

The police have recorded statement from the 14-year-old.

He was suspected to have shot a neighbour’s cat on Wednesday.

The pet owner said his son found their injured cat lying at the back of their house in the morning.

He suspected the teenage boy had shot his pet.

Fearing someone would get shot, he brought his pet to Sibu Jaya police station to lodge a police report on the same day.

Meanwhile, a punter claimed his hand phone was stolen at a lottery outlet in town here yesterday morning.

The 50-year-old man placed his phone at the counter while buying lottery around 10.30am.

He left after buying the lottery but when he could find his phone which he usually kept in trousers’ pocket, he returned to the counter but the phone was no longer there.

He asked his friend to call his number, but all calls went unanswered.

A police report has been lodged.
