KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has never established any military cooperation with Hamas or any parties in Palestine.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the relationship and cooperation with Palestine is only in diplomatic, trade and culture.

“Malaysia is also a strong supporter of the Palestinians morally and via humanitarian aid. The strong support of Malaysians is because of the long relationship between Malaysian and Palestinian leaders.

“This may have caused dissatisfaction on the part of Israel,” he said in a statement, here yesterday.

The Jerusalem Post online newspaper recently quoted an alleged Hamas cell member as saying that Malaysia was a training ground for smuggling and border raids using parachute.

The report also quoted the alleged Hamas member as telling the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) that they also trained on how to kidnap military personnel as part of preparation to fight Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) in Gaza.

Zahid said Israel must prove the serious allegation which arose as more countries and the international community condemned the Israeli violence.

The attack on Gaza has claimed some 1,300 Palestinian lives, including the innocent women and children.

He added the Israeli intelligence agency Shin Bet tried to create propaganda to tarnish Malaysia’s good image with baseless accusations.

“This is an attempt to make up for their failure to deal with the Hamas fighters in Gaza,” said Zahid. — Bernama
