“When you come together for something like this, you become united and this is an important contribution to regional and global peace,” she said when officiating the event at Kuching Hockey Stadium. Some 22 teams from all over Sarawak, Sabah, the peninsula and Singapore took part in the folk dance, a regular feature of Kuching Festival.

Fatimah said dancing was a healthy exercise linked to increased productivity.

Also present at the event were organising chairman Ng Chee Wee, Kuching Festival Folk Dance coordinator and Persatuan Tarian Perdana Kuching chairman Loh Yang Guek, and Kuching City South mayor Datuk James Chan.
