KUCHING: The state PKR has expressed concern over the security situation in the state after a shot was fired from a shotgun at the residence of Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh at Jalan Ipoh in Sibu between 8.15pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday night.

State PKR chairman Baru Bian said the party was very concerned that the security in the state seemed to be “getting very bad”.

“A lot of people have been touching on this issue (security). Over and over again we have mentioned about this issue but the police insisted that they are getting better and better.

“But then, incidences like this seem to go against their statistics,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Baru said this was not the first time an elected representative or prominent figures in the state became the target of harassment as his colleague Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How was also a victim of arson previously.

“We would like thorough investigation to be conducted into this kind of situation.”
