SEREMBAN: Three hundred kilogrammes of drugs worth RM1.8 million seized by the Kuala Lumpur Narcotics CID in the last seven years have been disposed of at Kualiti Alam Scheduled Waste Management Centre in Bukit Nenas near here, yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur police management department chief Datuk Aidi Ismail said the drugs disposed of were seized in several cases which had been settled in court.

“Today, we are disposing two types of drugs, traditional and psychotropic drugs comprising ganja, heroin, opium and others, weighing 300 kilogrammes with an estimated value of RM1.8 million.

“The court has ordered the contraband to be disposed of. So we are using Kualiti Alam’s incineration facility which is cleaner and safer,” he told a news conference after disposing the drugs at the scheduled waste management centre.

“Kuala Lumpur has been identified as a drug processing area as there were a number of processing facilities. But through our intelligence, we managed to track them down and when raids were conducted, we seized huge quantities of drugs,” Aidi said. — Bernama
