KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday the post of Selangor Menteri Besar belongs to the party and must be respected by the other parties in the context of the Pakatan Rakyat (Opposition Pact) spirit.

“It is a PKR seat and decision and it must be respected in the spirit of Pakatan Rakyat,” he said when asked whether he was worried that PAS might submit another name as the candidate for the Selangor Menteri Besar’s post.

Anwar said PAS was also present in the process to make the decision during the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council meeting on Aug 17.

“We have never questioned the issue on the PAS candidate to become the Menteri Besar of Perak, Kedah or Kelantan but what is more important in my mind is that all these had been considered before the meeting and decided on Aug 17,” he said.

Anwar disclosed this at the Jalan Duta Court Complex, here before the proceedings to hear his suit against Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman.

On Tuesday, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah said that every party in the Pakatan Rakyat pact must nominate more than two names each as the candidate for the new Menteri Besar of Selangor in place of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim. — Bernama
