Yap: PR leaders self-serving

KUCHING: SUPP Youth is urging Sarawakians to re-evaluate the worth of Pakatan Raykat (PR) following the ongoing Selangor Menteri Besar crisis.

Its secretary, Wilfred Yap, said yesterday that the fiasco in Selangor had laid bare PR’s lust for power.

“It is our responsibility to encourage the people of Sarawak to learn from the ongoing Selangor Menteri Besar crisis because the Sarawak state election could be held next year, as hinted by Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem,” he said in a press statement.

Yap noted that the people, especially those in urban areas, had bought into PR’s offer of ‘new politics’ – complete with fresh faces, more rakyat-friendly policies, less political infighting, less corruption, and greater transparency and accountability – in the last general election.

“Despite blindly believing during the last general election that finally a group of decent, God fearing, and honest leaders had emerged, the rakyat is now bombarded with shocking events unfolding each day.

“It appears that PKR and DAP do not even understand the content of their speeches and elaborate propaganda manifesto.”

Yap said PR had exploited racial and religious parochialism to the fullest for their political survival.

“In short, the rakyat’s hopes for a better future have been shattered.

“The so-called virtues advocated by PR, particularly by the DAP through their ‘Ubah’ or ‘Change’ slogans, have all been discarded as events over the last six months in Selangor have clearly shown that PR (especially PKR and DAP)’s politics is really about the desire for power and of winning for self-benefits at all costs.”

Since PR’s reputation was now in tatters, SUPP Youth hoped the non-Muslim Bumiputeras would reject Sarawak DAP’s ‘Impian Sarawak’ projects.

SUPP Youth held the view that the opposition should not be allowed to destabilise the state, he said.

“Only a Barisan Nasional (BN) government can guarantee stability and protect our present way of life, which is based on moral values and ethics.

“The success of development programmes in Sarawak is proof that only BN, under the leadership of Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem, can deliver a brighter future for all Sarawakians,” Yap said.
