KUCHING: Local hobbists, talented youths, and budding artistes gathered at Medan Pelita yesterday for #AYCLIVE-Live @ Wayang Street.

The one-day event was organised by Azam Youth Central for youths to indulge in self-development activities.

Azam information management officer Kerry Edison said this was the fourth edition of a series of events organised by Young Souls this year. It comes under Azam’s Youth Development programme called ‘Young Souls & the City’, introduced in 2012.

“#AYCLIVE-Live @ Wayang Street was also held in conjunction with the Kuching City Day and Merdeka Day celebrations. We hope to support the government’s effort to make Kuching a lively and vibrant city.”

Kerry said the event was also ideal for social interaction.

Analog photography enthusiast, Shah Zur’ain Sesco, 23, said the event was great for hobbyists like him to showcase their passions and talents. Zur’ain is one of the 12 active members of the group called Kch Film Photography, which explores photography using film or analog cameras.

“We hope the event can be held longer and more often in future.”

Highlights of the day included performances by local talents such as Sonar Instinct, Noenaki, Drum Call Community, The Shed, Inspired the Bee, and Ready Steady Go.

#AYCLIVE-Live @ Wayang Street started at 10am with busking at the front entrance.

There was also a mini flea market peddling products ranging from handicrafts and electronic gadgets to second hand books, clothes, health products, shoes, and food and beverages.

A big number of cosplayers had a field day indulging in activities such as stage showcase, figurine and gunpla exhibition, and card games.
