150 Rh Franchis residents apply to join UPP

SIBU: A total of 150 residents of Rumah Franchis at Sungai Aup here have applied to join United People’s Party (UPP).

Its longhouse chief, Tuai Rumah’ Franchis Jenggi, handed the 150 application forms to Andrew Shilling, a political secretary to the Chief Minister, yesterday.

TR Franchis said: “We stand solidly behind Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh and pledge full support to him.”

He said Wong, who is Bawang Assan assemblyman, was a people-oriented leader, had served his people well, and had helped develop his village.

On UPP, Franchis said the party served as a new platform for them to air their voices.

Shilling said rural folk were aware of what UPP aspired to do.

He said they wanted to join UPP as they believed the party was sincere in wanting to serve them.
