Bintulu club sweeps top two spots in lion dance competition

Several hundred people enjoy the lion dance competition at Bintulu Esplanade.

BINTULU: Team A and Team B of Bintulu Chin Woo Sport Culture and Recreational Club were joint champion in the state-level Lion Dance competition held in conjunction with Tanglung Carnival at Bintulu Esplanade on Saturday night.

The third place went to Sarawak Chinese Martial Arts Association with no second place winner.

A total of nine lion dance troupes took part in the competition.

The opening ceremony was graced by Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

Also present were Federation of Registered Chinese Association (Forca) Bintulu advisor Datuk Pau Chiong Ung, Forca Bintulu president Dr Wong Aik Loung, Bintulu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Dr Francis Toh and other committee members.

Various interesting activities were held during the carnival including a street lantern procession.

The carnival is organised by Forca in collaboration with Bintulu Resident’s Office and Bintulu Development Authority from Sept 4 to 8.
