KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government will not tolerate any group instigating and spreading talk pertaining to the state seceding from Malaysia.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said such talk was not only seditious but detrimental to the prevailing peace and harmony that Malaysians in Sabah had enjoyed all the while.
“Enough is enough. Do not threaten and challenge the state and federal constitutions,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
Musa said the views of the group in question were not representative of the majority, believing that Sabahans in general had allegiance to Malaysia.
“This group can make many claims that they have a huge following. However, what is most unfortunate is that there are irresponsible politicians who justify this type of action to further their own agendas,” he noted.
Musa said the federal government had made it known that Sabah and Sarawak were important partners in the federation. He added that billions of ringgit were channelled yearly towards both states to fund projects and programmes for the benefit of the people.
“We know there’s still much to be done and issues to be resolved. Sabah is a work in progress and we are constantly finding solutions to issues. We are a civil society and a nation of laws, with no room for intolerance, arrogance and extremism,” he said. — Bernama
