Boy joins burglar who gets busted again

KUCHING: A convicted criminal wasted no time in returning to his old habits after release from prison by recruiting two henchmen, including a 12-year-old boy, to break into a house.

The ex-convict questioned by police following his arrest yesterday.

The two accomplices being led to the police station for questioning after they were picked up at the old prison compound.

The 20-something man was arrested yesterday morning by police at his house at Kampung Sourabaya Hilir in connection with a break-in at Jalan Central Timur on Sept9 which saw the theft of items such as Rolex watches, cash, cameras, clothing and shoes.

The suspect, whom sources
said had only recently been released from jail for similar offences, led police to an abandoned structure at the old prison compound in Tabuan Road where two of his accomplices – one a 12-year-old – were found sleeping there.

All three were brought to district police headquarters for questioning prior to being detained in the lockup pending further investigation.

Sources also revealed that police managed to recover part of the loot from the ex-convict.

In a separate case, a 15-year-old girl tangled with an intruder who ransacked her house for cash and other valuables.

At around 9.15am yesterday, the home-alone teenager was checking on noise from the kitchen of her house at Rock Road when she was confronted by a masked man who pressed a sharp weapon against her neck.

He ordered her to stay quiet before forcing her to go upstairs with him.

He went on to ransack the master bedroom of gold jewellery, cash and a laptop before rushing downstairs and escaping on a motorcycle.

Following the incident, the girl contacted her parents who brought her to the police station to lodge a report.

Police are investigating.
