KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud conferred the Datuk Patinggi Bintang Kenyalang (DP) award which carries the title ‘Datuk Patinggi’ on Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem at an investiture ceremony held at the Lapau of the State Legislative Building (DUN), Petra Jaya, here yesterday.
The award was bestowed in conjunction with Taib’s first official birthday celebration and during the investiture ceremony eleven other recipients also received the Sarawak Government awards.
The recipients were Miri’s Samling Group president Tan Sri Yaw Teck Seng, who received the Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang (DA) which carries the title ‘Datuk Amar’, while Jurutera Perunding Wahba Sdn Bhd executive chairman Dato Wahab Suhaili was conferred the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS) which carries the title ‘Dato Sri’.
Executive deputy chairman of Dayang Enterprise Holding Berhad, Datuk Ling Suk Kiong, was given the Panglima Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK) award which carries the title ‘Datuk’.
His Excellency also presented the Darjah Jasa Bintang Sarawak (DJBS) award which carries the title ‘Datu’ to state director of Agriculture Dept Lai Kui Fong, state accountant Jumastapha Lamat and Native Court Judge Thomas Akin Jelimin.
Another five received the Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) award which carries the title ‘Dato’. They were Major General Dato’ Pahlawan Abdul Nasser Ahmad, wife of Assistant Minister of Rural Development Datuk Gramong Juna, Datin Catherine Kelo Isa and Dr Sim Soon Liang, Alice Jawan Empaling and Vincent Yeo Siew Hee.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patingg Tan Sri Alfred Jabu read the citation on Adenan during the investiture ceremony.
