SERIAN: St Theresa’s Parish Council will be holding a three-day celebration of the Feast of Saint Theresa from Sept 27 to 28 and Oct 1.

On the actual Feast Day of Oct 1, there will be a thanksgiving mass at 6.30pm followed by a thanksgiving buffet dinner at the church hall.

The three-day celebration, according to a press release yesterday, will feature various programmes and activities including a procession around Serian town, magic show, jumble sale, lucky draws as well as choir and cultural dance competitions.

The objectives of the celebration are to foster better relationship among fellow parishioners, to raise fund for the maintenance and development of the main church and the chapels in the parish and for the physical and spiritual activities and projects of the parish council.

A well-known international magician Fellan Chai, in spite of his tight schedule, is expected to come and perform magic shows during the celebration.

Chai was invited to perform magic show at the Feast Day last year.

The Parish Council Special Function committee chairman Dennis Edwin urged all well wishers to support this celebration and donate generously.

Coupons, donation envelopes, lucky draw tickets and Fellowship Buffet Dinner tickets are now available on sale at the Parish Office and also during the celebration days.

The fund collected from the celebration will be fully utilised for projects of the parish council.

Dennis also welcomed those who wish to donate prizes for the lucky draws to contact Wilson Banyui at the Parish Office at 082-875304.

He advised all lucky draw winners to claim their prizes immediately after each draw. Winners who fail to do so will have their winning tickets disqualified.

Parish Council chairman Dennis Sung revealed that the annual event to celebrate the Feast of St Theresa was the only major fundraising activity of the Parish Council.

He hoped that all supporters, donors and well wishers will continue to support the celebration as the Council was still short of fund for its proposed projects that include upkeep and development of main church, the chapels within the Parish (Serian and Simunjan) and for spiritual activities.
