‘Body review done same day dead bodies found’

SIBU: The body review of the three Pulau Li Hua murder victims was conducted at Sibu Hospital on the day the three were found dead at their house in Pulau Li Hua on July 5 last year.

Senior investigation officer DSP Yeoh Chun Shyan said he was present when three doctors conducted the review about 2pm at the hospital mortuary.

A police corporal took photos of the process, he told the High Court here yesterday during cross-examination by senior federal counsel (SFC) Yaacub Chik.

Yeoh was testifying at the trial of Jacob Tiang, 44, who is facing three charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code for killing his wife Ling Yung Ming, 40, daughter Christine, 14, and son Victor, two, between 6.20am and 9.50am on July 5 last year at their house in Pulau Li Hua.

Tiang is also charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempting to cause the death of his eldest son Vincent, 18, at the same place, time and day.

He faces another charge under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempted suicide at the same place, time and day.

Yeoh said he received a call from Inspector Siti Arfah Ismail from Bintulu about 7.30pm on July 5, 2013 that they had arrested the accused and seized his vehicle.

“Siti told me the accused and his vehicle would be placed at Bintulu police station until we arrive to bring him back to Sibu.

“DSP David Ajek, another policeman and I left Sibu for Bintulu about 9pm the same day,” he said.

Yeoh told the court that Bintulu police handed over Tiang to him about 8am on July 6, 2013.

They later headed back to Sibu arriving at 11.45am.

Tiang was then placed at the lock up of Sibu Central Police Station.
