“We really need a team of best partners to help us to further develop the city in various development aspects including the ICT,” he stated when officiating the Sarawak ICT Expo 2014 at Miri Indoor Stadium yesterday.

Lai said the Computer Sales and Services Association (CSSA) Sarawak Miri branch can play their role to spur the city with ICT development.

He believes with the computer association’s experience and high expertise, it can help to further improve the ICT facilities in the city. On the expo, he gave his total support describing it as a good move in exposing and updating the public on the latest ICT gadgets and technology in the market.

“This is the thirteenth expo and I’m happy that it has now gained popularity. Like the previous expos, this expo has brought positive impact to the hotel and food industry.”

Also present were organising chairman Janson Yong, chairman of CSSA Miri branch Kent Tang, deputy chairman of CSSA Miri branch Yong Chee Tak, secretary to the association Victor Kuan and committee member Richard Soo.

Meanwhile, the expo which started yesterday until this Sunday (Oct 7) is an annual event jointly organised with Miri City Council (MCC), with Asus Malaysia as the platinum sponsor this

The organiser has targeted around 40,000 visitors to come for the three-day expo and this year’s expo is more colourful since the organiser has extended the scope to various parties to join such as Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Miri Handphone Association, audio-visual, household appliances group, financial services and products, Naim Cendera Sdn Bhd and IBS College.
