KUCHING: The Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) plans to restructure its rules to enable involvement of the Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) in the union’s election.
According to SDNU president Tan Sri William Mawan, SIDS members are yet to have any say when it comes to the union’s central committee election.
“We will coordinate the union’s legislation to place SIDS members in SDNU committee in the future,” Mawan, who is also Social Development Minister, said in a text speech read by SDNU treasurer-general Christopher Gira at the union’s Taman Malihah Phase 1 Unit 15th anniversary celebration on Saturday night.
“To ensure that all agenda would succeed, SIDS members statewide are urged to register with the union. This way, each of them would have rights in the union and as such, can register at SDNU offices in Kuching or other divisions,” he added.
At the event, Mawan announced a grant of RM5,000 to the unit for it to hold activities.
Also present were the unit’s chief Susana Koh and organising chairperson Sandra Koh.
