Long wait for bodies of three accident victims

BINTULU: Family members and relatives of the three who died in a road collision wept inconsolably when their bodies finally arrived at Bintulu Hospital Forensic Unit at 9pm on Wednesday.

Family members and close relatives weep when the bodies arrive at Bintulu Hospital and were wheeled to the Forensic Unit.

The accident took place more than 200km from the town and delivery of the bodies was further delayed when the police vehicle broke down due to mechanical failure.

According to police, three persons were killed and one injured when the car they were travelling in collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle about 100 metres near Uma Belor intersection in Sg Asap Belaga at noon on Wednesday.

The three dead were Wallace Jalong Musa, 24, Stanley Nganik, 19 and Roger Imang Albert, 14 – all from Uma Belor and Uma Lahanan. Emu Joseph sustained minor injuries.

The four youths were said to be heading for Uma Belor from Sg Asap town. On reaching the junction, the car went out of control before colliding with a vehicle carrying three families.

The driver of the four-wheel drive and other passengers escaped without injuries.
