SMK St Joseph to hold 80th anniversary dinner end of month

MIRI: SMK St Joseph will be holding a special dinner to celebrate its 80th anniversary on Oct31.

The dinner will take place at the grand ballroom of Imperial Hotel, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, event spokesperson Ng Meng Heong said.

Among objectives of the dinner is to foster closer ties among parents, teachers, members of Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) SMK St Joseph, school alumni, school management board and former students of the school.

“This dinner is (also) organised to raise funds to build a new school building for SMK St Joseph,” he added.

He added that the new building will have a multi-purpose hall, class for Special Integration Education Programme (PPKI), Perdana Students Class, Resource Centre, library, computer laboratory as well as a conference room.

During a special press conference held at SMK St Joseph yesterday, Ng said that the whole building is estimated to cost about RM 5 million.

He also pointed out that this is one of the major programmes to be carried out by the school to raise the needed amount of money and there will also be many other fund raising activities in the pipeline for the same purpose.

Seven hundred guests are expected to attend the dinner and the tickets are priced at RM80 and RM100 each.

Assistant Minister of Communication cum Assistant Minister of Sports Datuk Lee Kim Shin will be the guest-of-honour at the dinner.

Among programmes prepared by the organiser for that dinner with the theme ‘Back to History’ are lucky draws, karaoke singing presentation and dance performances.
