Dayak chamber members attend Indonesian Trade Expo

KUCHING: Nine Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) members were part of the 122-member Malaysian delegation participating in the recent 29th Indonesian Trade Expo (TEI) in Jakarta.

They comprised DCCI executive secretary Terence Temenggong Jayang, DCCI women entrepreneurs committee chairman Veronica Thresa Michael, Datuk Kristoffer Nyuak, Helbert Ubong, Bonniface Lembong Jingai, Agatha Charlottee, Fiona John Nolly and Margaret Nyoweng.

Temenggong said the other members of the Malaysian delegation comprised fellow entrepreneurs and professionals including members of the Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia from Penang, Melaka and Johor; Indian Chamber of Commerce from Penang; as well as entrepreneurs from Tawau, Sabah.

“Participation in TEI provided DCCI members exposure to a wide range of variety of products, services, investment opportunities and destinations that Indonesia is ready to offer. This ranges from mining, manufacturing, services, transportation, telecommunication, automotive and textile sectors.

“International companies regard Indonesia as a good prospect for expansion once Asean’s economic integration takes effect in 2015. With its huge market, it is expected that the Asean economic community will open up new opportunities for international companies keen to invest there,” said Temenggong.

He said DCCI members and other Malaysian delegates also attended the opening ceremony officiated at by Minister of Trade Indonesia Muhammad Lufti on Oct 8.

They also attended the business matching welcoming dinner with DKI Jakarta Chamber Of Commerce and Franchise and License Committee Chamber of Commerce.

A trip to Bandung was also organised where participants had the opportunity to visit factory outlets for textile, leather and footwear products.

Temenggong said the DCCI group and others from Sarawak were led by Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching Djoko Harjanto and his officers.
