KUCHING: Newly-crowned Miss Malaysia / World 2014, Dewi Liana Seriestha is ready for the international pageant to be held in London later this year.
“I am ready, of course. Now I’m in the process of preparing for Miss World 2014, which is less than a month from now,” Dewi, who is from Kampung Tematu near here, gushed when met by The Borneo Post yesterday.
The Bidayuh beauty was at her former primary school SK Sacred Heart in Kampung Semeba for the Miss World’s ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ challenge yesterday which according to her, would carry 30 per cent of judging.
“I’m aiming for the full 30 per cent. Apart from that, I’ve also been going to the gym more often to stay fit; attending classes for intelligence, personality and public speaking; as well as learning more about beauty,” Dewi said on her preparations for the world pageant.
The 25-year-old was also impressed by her former school, which she noted had undergone major changes over the years.
“It’s been almost 15 years since I last set foot in here, and I feel very proud that this school has had many good changes. The buildings are more developed, and there are even several teachers who taught me last time, still staying on to teach the students here. Such is the sacrifice of a teacher!
“I am extremely happy and touched that they have done an event to welcome me as well,” Dewi raved, looking ever radiant despite the sweltering humidity.
Just as beautiful inside as she is outside, the SK Sacred Heart alumnus presented contributions to the school as a bid to keep the Bidayuh culture alive there.
A pride of the Bidayuh community, Dewi is also a powerhouse of talents as she sings, composes and writes songs, as well as having done modelling and acting jobs.
