SANTUBONG: State Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn yesterday urged Bidayuhs to take pride in their ‘adat’ (law) and customs.

“Basically, we (Bidayuh) may be seen as simple people…but to me we are not simple, we are cultured and sophisticated people because of the Bidayuh adat and customs.

“The Bidayuh law has been in existence even before the civil laws so we must take pride and continuously review it,” Sagah pointed out.

He was speaking at the opening of a 4-day Bidayuh Adat and Customs workshop at One Hotel Santubong here.

The event, organised by Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak (Mais), was participated by 93 Bidayuh community leaders, including village chiefs from Siburan and Padawan areas.
