KUCHING: The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) will be hosting a public talk by the Schmidt Ocean Institute on Oct 31. The talk will take place at 10am at SBC’s lecture theatre at Km20, Jalan Borneo Heights, Semengoh near here. The Schmidt Ocean Institute, based in California, USA, is a private non-profit operating foundation established in 2009 to advance oceanographic research, discovery, and knowledge, and sharing of information about the oceans. As the Earth’s oceans are the least explored part of our environment, the Schmidt Ocean Institute dedicates its work towards a comprehensive understanding of our oceans through various research projects. The talk on the institute’s work will be presented by Carlie Wiener on behalf of the Institute’s director of research, Dr Victor Zykof. The talk is open to members of the public with free admission. Those involved in marine research, deep sea exploration, enforcement, geology and the oil and gas industries are also encouraged to attend this talk. For more information and to register for the talk, contact the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre via phone at 082-610610 (Constance Vanessa Victor or Ha-mim Marzuki) or send an email to [email protected] or [email protected] before Oct 28.
