KUALA LUMPUR: Forty per cent of the 7,800 Bumiputera companies under the stewardship of Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) qualify to register for the Goods and Services Tax (GST), said deputy chief executive officer Abdul Jammi Abdul Karim.

He said all the companies which qualify for the new tax to be implemented from April 1 next year should register and not to wait for the last minute to do so.

“We have organised several seminars from early this year and are starting to see the number or registrations growing,” he told reporters at a GST Comprehensive Seminar yesterday.

The two-day event, which began yesterday, is being held in collaboration with the Royal Malaysians Customs Department.

There are 378 participants, with 250 being company representatives. — Bernama
