Military seize two truckloads of ironwood

PELAIHARI, South Kalimantan: The Intelligence Unit of Pelaihari District Military Command or Kodim 1009 on Wednesday at around 5pm seized two truckloads of ironwood, Antaranews reported.

In addition to seizing large trucks load with ironwood (locally known as ulin) in the form of planks, the intelligence also arrested the driver of the vehicle.

“The truck were driven to the office of District Military Command 1009 Pelaihari (65 Km east branch) to be secured,” said District Commanders (Dandim) Lelkol Inf Anhar Premana.

However, said the middle-rank officer of the army, one of the drivers escaped at the time of interception in the village of Asam-Asam (125 km east of Banjarmasin) Subdistrict Jorong, Tanah Laut.

According to Dandim Pelaihari 1009, a messenger of the illegal timber owner had attempted to offer Rp30 million to members of the Intel Unit for transport passes.

He said two trucks loaded with 18 cubic meters ironwood with a length of two meters and a diameter of 20×20 cm in the form of planks. The rare wood is destined for Liang Anggang, Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan.

Military Command not only confiscated ironwood which was without documents, but also captured a dump truck with forged license plate covered with yellow paper sticker as the base and the black sticker for writing numbers.
