KUCHING: An 18-year-old girl has been hospitalised after she was found semi-conscious by passers-by at Kampung Semariang Kubur on Thursday. It is believed that she had been raped, beaten and robbed by a man whom she met a couple of months ago.
According to the girl’s father, she left their house at Kampung Bintawa Hilir with the man around 9pm.
“I got worried as all my calls to her went unanswered that night. Then at 11.30pm, I received a call from police saying that my daughter had been found at Kampung Semariang Kubur.
“I rushed to the scene and there, I saw that she was hurt quite badly, with head injuries. At the time, she was weak but she managed to tell us that she had been raped and thrown there earlier.
“After that, she blacked out. Immediately, we rushed her to Sarawak General Hospital,” he said. It is reported that police later found her clothes at the site where she was discovered.
“Unfortunately, we could not find other belongings such as personal documents and mobile phone. We believe that they were stolen by the man, whom we suspect is from Kampung Gita, Petra Jaya,” a police spokesperson
said. As at press-time, the victim was still at the hospital and police could not get to her to facilitate investigation.
