LAWAS: Lawas police cautioned against social speculation after a man was found dead at an entertainment outlet here early yesterday morning.

The deceased, identified as Donny Mudin 37 from Kpg Lintang Trusan, was believed to have succumbed to injuries inflicted in a brawl and was found lifeless at 3.30am.

Acting police chief of Lawas ASP Mutang Dawat said police subsequently arrested a prime suspect from Sipitang Sabah.

“Based on public information, we have detained the suspect this morning (yesterday) to facilitate our investigation into the case,” he said when met at Limbang airport upon arrival from Kuching.

ASP Mutang reminded the community against speculating on the case including on social network, assuring that a thorough investigation will ensure that whoever responsible will be duly penalised.

Seeking to keep the social temperature on crime from rising in view of the upcoming Lawas Festival at end of the month, Mutang assured that security will be upheld.
