Nine foreigners nabbed for not possessing valid travel documents

SIBU: Nine Indonesian men were taken to the police station here after they failed to produce valid travel documents when policemen asked for them.

The men, aged 15 to 34, were walking along Tun Abang Haji Openg Road here at about 9.30am yesterday when traffic policemen checked on them.

They told police they were waiting for their employer to bring them to Lada Road where they worked at a construction site.

They were taken to the police station after waiting in vain for their employer for three hours.

Meanwhile, a 69-year-old man surnamed Hii landed in a ditch with his motorcycle when he lost control of the machine, believed due to a faulty brake.

The incident happened at about 9am at Rejang Park here yesterday.

Members of the public who saw the accident contacted the police and later alerted the Civil Defence Department (JPAM).

Hii suffered injuries on his chin and ears, and was taken to Sibu Hospital in a JPAM ambulance.
