Swinburne crowned champion again in Masiswa sports carnival

KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak campus was crowned champion in the annual Masiswa Sports Carnival for the second time.

Swinburne emerged the clear winner with 103 points amongst the 16 institutions of higher learning that took part in the games. In badminton, Swinburne beat Sunway College Kuching and Institut Eksekutif, and continued the lead in the basketball category, slam-dunking to victory over Segi College Sarawak and UCSI University. Teams A and B from Swinburne seized both first and second place in the futsal category, while Multimedia College Sarawak (MMC) trailed in third place.

They also beat Sunway College Kuching and SATT College in the 10-pin bowling event, while beating Technology College Sarawak (TCS) and University College Technology Sarawak in netball.

Swinburne continued to fight their way to the lead in table tennis, beating NIIT and Sunway College Kuching, and further demonstrated their skills in chess with Kok Wei Tze and Clement Ting Pek Wen clinching first and second place, beating Chia Jia Cheng of Lim Kok Wing Borneo. However, Swinburne only managed to clinch second place in the volleyball category, which was won by Lim Kok Wing Borneo while Technology College Sarawak won third place. The only category where they did not make it to the top three spots was in sepak takraw.
