Man seriously injured in gas tank explosion

MIRI: A man was seriously injured when an argon gas tank exploded yesterday afternoon at his house compound at Jalan Trusan 3, Pujut 4, while refilling gas for wielding works.

The injured man, identified as Ah Chong, in his 40’s, suffered serious injuries in the noon incident when metal fragments hit his body and legs.

According to sources, the more serious injuries were that of the torn flesh on both legs after being hit by metal fragments.

Ah Chong’s employee, Sayong Chaong, 38, who was with him when the mishap took place, related the incident to thesundaypost when met yesterday.

“I thought someone was shot…I was sitting not far from my boss when the explosion occurred, and seconds later, I saw him (Ah Chong) lying groaning in pain on the grass area about 10-feet away from where we were sitting” he said.

According to Sayong, there were blood stains on the bathroom’s and toilet’s doors, as the explosion caused Ah Chong to crash onto the doors before landing on the grassy area outside.

Ah Chong’s wife and his young daughter who were in the house, rushed out to him upon hearing the explosion.

An ambulance, which arrived at the scene shortly after receiving a distress call, brought Ah Chong to Miri hospital.
