KOTA SAMARAHAN: Traders at Jalan Samarindah will be fully relocated once the second phase of the new market is completed.

According to Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang, nearly half of the traders have already moved to their new location just adjacent to the old market.

“The Samarahan District Council is currently working on the relocation. So far, there are no objection from the traders,” Rubiah told reporters after launching the Skills Adventure Programme at Summermall here yesterday.

She was, however, unsure of the deadline given to the traders to relocate.

Rubiah also said that more development projects would come Samarindah way to make the area more vibrant for the residents.

Among the projects in the pipeline, she added, was the vacant area near to the Samarindah Everrise which would be transformed.

“Among the ideas which have been mooted for the vacant area is to transform it into an area for  locals and residents to start their own business,” she added.

These projects, she said, would be carried out via smart partnerships between the government and private companies who own the majority of land in Samarindah.

More access roads linking the whole Samarindah area, she added, were also being planned.
