BINTULU: All members of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) across the state have been urged to strengthen their cooperation to ensure that the party’s machinery remains strong and solid.

Its president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said SUPP’s failure to retain several seats in the last election should not discourage them but should be a lesson for all to work harder for the sake of continuity of leadership in the state’s oldest party.

“Although sometimes there is misunderstanding between fellow party members, it should not be extended and all members must think about the best solution for the benefit of all parties,” he said when officiating at the opening of SUPP Bintulu branch new office at Bintulu Sentral yesterday.

He said SUPP was slowly and steadily becoming stronger, and hoped the improvements made on the party’s management system would indirectly strengthen the party which always stood firm as a component of Barisan Nasional (BN).

In order to further strengthen the party, the young generation should be recruited into the party so that they would become the party’s future leaders.

“SUPP welcomes more youths, especially those with good educational background,” he said.

Sim believed SUPP Bintulu branch would be able to provide the best service to the people in this division, especially those living in rural areas.

SUPP, he said, is a party for all and is committed to assist the rural community improve their socio economic standing.

Its vice president Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, branch chairman Johnny Pang and Temenggong Barry Yek Siew Hui were among those present.
