Senadin’s Food Arena opens for alfresco dining, showbiz

MIRI: Here’s a toast to music as you dine casual in open air ambience, with the steamy swirl of cooking from a gastronomical array of local and foreign cuisine, at the new Food Arena in Desa Senadin.

Situated just beside the Senadin Lake, this open air food court not only serves an array of fresh seafood and authentic local delicacies, it also brings a unique dining experience in serene atmosphere.

In a semi-circle setting, Food Arena comprises of 11 stalls altogether – with a specially-built stage fronting the stalls and alfresco dining.

“We came up with the name ‘Food Arena’ as this place is actually an arena for local food operators to show off their cooking skills,” said a spokesman who preferred to remain anonymous.

He explained that the concept of a food arena is a place where chefs and cooks have the opportunity to showcase their specialties.

And with the purpose-built stage, the management plans to stage singing shows every weekend to promote local talents.

Food Arena will be operational starting today (29 Nov) and it will be tenanted by local food operators.

There are also plans to bring a foreign chef, in which once a year, the food court will hold a one-week international food show.

Though its concept is 1Malaysia cuisine, the stalls also serve Thai, Philippine and western cuisines.

These include exquisite foods like the Local Nasi Petai, barbecued chicken wings, meat and fish, Nyonya Melaka Assam Fish, Nasi Lelapan, Thai seafood salad, Philippines grilled fish and many others.

Keeping abreast with today’s wireless technology, the area is covered by free Internet wifi connection so patrons can keep in touch with friends or loved ones on their tablets or smart phones.

With this new landmark in Senadin, it is hoped that Food Arena will be frequently patronised by the local community as well as visitors from abroad.

Food Arena is open from 5pm till 11pm on weekdays and 9am till 11pm on the weekends (Saturday & Sunday).
