SIBU: The vice-chancellor of University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) Prof Dato’ Dr Abdul Hakim Juri wants to see ‘Family Day’ made a permanent fixture, as it brings about a positive impact for the staff.
Abdul Hakim said while the outdoors was rejuvenating as a ‘reboot’, the event goes a long way to inculcate noble family values and strengthen rapport between staff and management, as well as family members.
“I hope more programmes such as this can be organised in the university to build better understanding among staff and family members with regard to the workings of the institution,” he said when officiating at the outdoor event at Mukah recently.
A total of 146 people participated in the Family Day outing, which included staff and their families, according to a press release e-mailed to The Borneo Post.
The event was organised by UCTS Staff Recreational Club, headed by Councillor Jimmy De Rozario @ Abdul Rahman (head of Human Capital Department).
Among the fun-filled activities were slippery mat, musical chair, sack run, and bottle fishing.
Staff and family members mingled during the day which was also an occasion to get acquainted with new staff.
The programme was to build closer rapport among UCTS staff and family members as interaction could boost morale and lead to better staff performance.
Family Day was also to show appreciation from the university management to the staff for their dedication and cooperation.
