BERAKAS, BRUNEIMUARA: Trained participants of Program Khidmat Bakti Negara, PKBN, or National Service Programme are urged to always uphold the Bruneian identity that is rich in traditional customs, ethics and courtesy, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

The call came from the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka Haji Mohamad Hamid bin Haji Mohamad Jaafar during the Launching Ceremony for the PKBN 4th Intake yesterday afternoon.

The ceremony took place at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Dato Paduka Haji Mohamad Hamid bin Haji Mohamad Jaafar said it is a moment of satisfaction and pride for every trained participant of the National Service Programme who had completed the three-month long training course in going through life without the help of parents or guardians at the camp.

The programme could also motivate the participants to be proactive by taking part in any activity held locally or abroad. He urged PKBN trainees and trained leavers to always maintain the Bruneian identity which is rich in customs, ethics and politeness – the elders are respected and the young loved.

PKBN participants, he added, are the role models of citizens who uphold the sovereignty of the monarch and nation.

The success of PKBN as the premium national programme, in cultivating self-esteem is increasingly obvious and welcomed by the local and regional communities.

One of PKBN’s latest initiatives is holding briefings on introduction of Islamic Medical and Welfare services by Darusysyifa Warrafahah.

Absorption of the module is hoped to attract many more PKBN youth to learn more about Islamic Medicine.

The fourth PKBN intake is the largest so far. A total of 313 youth comprising 211 male and 102 female participants are taking part in the latest programme.
