SIBU: The Riverside Youth Avenue (RYA) initiated by the Sibu Youth Council (SYC) is once again open to applications for businesses from people aged 35 and below.

SYC’s Youth Education Training and Entrepreneurship (YETE) standing committee chairman Thomas Moh said the weekend trading would begin on Jan 17, from 6am to 5pm.

“Registration is valid for a month (minimum) with possibility of extension,” he told a press conference yesterday.

He said response to RYA which started in November last year had been encouraging, with some participants tested the local market preferences/liking and some realigned their business strategy and shaped their entrepreneurial perspective locally.

“For all the success and failure stories, they ascertain a point. This is a great happening, and definitely, it proves fundamentally the need and necessitate for greater momentum and challenges which is also resonating well with the participants of RYA.

“New Year always comes with new resolution, therefore, YETE which is a component of SYC, has decided to go the extra mile to help and support those who want to be an entrepreneur or start their own businesses and pursue self-employment as a career choice,” he said.

Moh said RYA was limited to 40 lots with four categories (types) of businesses including food and beverages, goods & retail and services.
