Entries for SEB-KDJA-CJA Media Awards extended until January 13

KUCHING: Entries from media practitioners in Sarawak for the Hydropower and Social Progress Media Awards 2014 will still be accepted until Jan 13, a spokesman for the organising committee said yesterday.

All entries, either hand-delivered or sent by registered mail, must reach the secretariat at: Hydropower and Social Progress Media Awards 2014, c/o Corporate Communications, Level 8, Sarawak Energy Bhd, Menara Sarawak Energy, No.1, The Isthmus, 93050 Kuching, on or before 4pm on Jan 13.

Cash prizes will be presented to the winners of the various categories at the Sarawak Energy Bhd – Kuching Division Journalists Association- Commonwealth Journalists Association, Sarawak branch Media Awards Night on Jan 30.

The awards are divided into print media category for works published in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese languages, broadcast media category for works in Bahasa Malaysia only and photography category.

Entries for the print media and broadcast media categories must be works published from Jan 1to Dec 31, 2014.

However, there is no such requirement for the photography category as long as the photographs are related to Sarawak Energy.

The first prize winners in the English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese categories shall receive RM2,000 cash each, second prize winners shall receive RM1,500 each and third prize winners shall receive RM1,000 each.

A consolation prize of RM300 each will be awarded to the winner for each of the English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese categories.

The first prize winner in the broadcast media category shall receive cash of RM2,000, second prize winner shall receive RM1,500 cash and third prize winner shall receive RM1,000 cash.

In the event that no entry meets the required standard, a merit award of RM800 in cash shall be awarded in the broadcast media category.

The first prize winner in the photography category shall receive RM1,500 cash, while the second prize winner shall receive RM1,000 cash and third prize winner shall receive RM800 cash.

There shall be five consolation prizes of RM250 each in the photography category.

The spokesman reminded that all entries must be based on hydropower and social progress undertaken by or related to Sarawak Energy Bhd.

He said that entries for the English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese languages categories must be in the form of one original and two copies.

Entries for the broadcast media category shall be in Bahasa Malaysia only.

All entries must be downloaded into three separate compact discs.

There is one photography category only, but each entry’s title shall either be in English or Bahasa Malaysia, in 8R size and must be in three prints.

A participant in the photography category can submit a maximum of five entries.

All entries from the print media and photography categories must be accompanied by the official entry forms, containing the participants’ names, titles of the entries, endorsement by the chief editors/news editors/bureau chiefs/section heads and must bear the employers’ official stamps.
