KAPIT: Residents at Bukit Pantu are calling on the authorities to cut a large uprooted tree, which is leaning precariously over the access road to the area.

A resident, who only wished to be identified as Richard, said the tree on the upper slope of Jalan Pantu was uprooted during a recent thunderstorm.

“It was uprooted but did not fall onto the ground because the other smaller trees’ branches have so far supported the weight of the fallen tree.

“It’s extremely dangerous and could fall at any time if the other trees on the lower part of the slope give way, then the tree would fall directly on the road. We’re concerned about our safety and especially our school-going children,” he said.

According to him there are some 30 families in the area including civil servants in government quarters.

Richard appealed to the authorities to help clear the trees and branches.

“What is more important than our safety? And the children may not be so alert of the potential danger.”
