SRI AMAN: Members of the Iban community throughout the state have been asked to document their cultural heritage.

Assistant Minister of Rural Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said without such efforts, future generations of Iban would not know or recognise the community’s traditions.

“The Iban village security and development committees (JKKKs) throughout the state can help by leading the way.

“They can show the people how it can be done,” he told reporters during the ‘Membara Kebudayaan’ event at Rumah Mambu, Kampung Guntong Simpang yesterday.

Among those present was Sri Aman Member of Parliament Masir Kujat.

Both Harden and Masir each announced allocations of RM5,000 for the village’s JKKK and RM3,000 for the village’s women’s bureau.
