Bomba personnel retrieve the dead newborn baby boy from the toilet bowl after half an hour.
BINTULU: The body of a newborn baby boy was found dumped in the toilet bowl of a female hostel at a public university here yesterday morning.
A reliable source said two female students found a female student in her 20s lying unconscious on the floor of a women’s restroom around 4.30am.
They immediately alerted a female security guard who went to check and was shocked to find a dead newborn baby boy in the toilet bowl.
The 36-year-old security guard called the ambulance and the female student was brought to hospital.
Police were summoned to the scene and launched an investigation into the case.
The body of the newborn was trapped in the toilet bowl and police requested assistance to retrieve it from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
Seven Bomba personnel were dispatched to the scene and they took about half an hour to extract the body.
In the meantime, a 19-year-old male student was arrested to assist in police investigation.
